This room was a hallway, opening up into the turret, giving access to the upstairs rooms.

Defence features

When entering the turret you will notice that there are three windows. These slotted windows were for firing crossbows and the smaller round windows were for muskets.

Access to the upper level and the next room in the tour, the Dining Hall, is now by using the outside staircase.

Next room in the Tour: Dining hall.
