
Sailing In The City
Sailing in the City is a fantastic opportunity for young people
to try the sport of sailing in the local parks of Glasgow.
Taster sessions in Auchinlea park
Glasgow City Council, in partnership with the Royal Yachting
Association and funding from The Big Lottery Fund are providing
young people (10-16 years) the opportunity to try the sport
of sailing.

Once bitten by the bug, young people can work their way through
the RYA Junior scheme and gain certificates and a logbook.
Whilst participating in the sessions you will be taught to
the Royal Yachting Associations junior scheme.
On completion of each stage you will be issued a certificate
to put in your logbook. You must complete each stage before
moving on to the next.
Taster Sessions
Come along, jump in a boat and give sailing a go!
These sessions last approximately 1 hour and give you the opportunity
to try the sport.
Don’t forget to get your logbook!
Stage 1
So you have tried it and liked it!
A full day this time, learn the basics of knot tying,
Rigging your boat as well as improving your manoeuvring skills.
Stage 2
Now you’re cruising!
Two days of sailing in a bigger expanse of water.
