GEAAP’s New Cyber Service
GEAAP has launched a new Cyber service to provide young people with the information they need to make safer, more
informed choices about alcohol use.
GEAAP recognises that many young people today live in a virtual world where instant responses are the norm.
Many are not comfortable to seek out a carer, teacher or worker to ask alcohol related questions, but are happy to chat and ask questions over a social networking site or through email.
Website with Cyber Service that gives answers
The Cyber Service compliments GEAAP’s award winning Young Booze Busters primary school’s programme, and further builds on it’s interactive Young Booze Busters website. The website enables young people to continue their learning and they also have the chance to win an ipod touch each month.
There is a direct link to the CYBER service on its home page, providing someone to ask alcohol related questions, or express any alcohol related concerns to.
Reaching further
This will allow GEAAP to engage in early interventions with many more young people in Glasgow, through mediums they are comfortable with.
Services
The service provides:
- Information and signposting onto other services.
- Informal chat in an agony aunt style format.
- Available Monday to Friday, between the hours of 4pm and 7pm.
- Staffed by a qualified counsellor with input and support from the Counselling and Prevention & Education teams at GEAAP.
