Lifelong Learning at Women’s Information and Support Project in Easterhouse – January 2011

Some of the community's more mature learners regularly meet at the Women's Support and Information Project in St Peter & St George’s church in Blairtumock.

GELN Support Officer, Brian McQuillan met with some of these learners to hear their views on getting to grips with computers.

Catherine Williamson, aged 91, from Riddrie said:

I enjoy the class and most of what I do is emails to my cousins in Australia. The company is good and it gets me out the house.

Cathy McLay, chairperson at the Women’s Centre Information and Support Project said:

The Women’s centre provides a friendly environment for lifelong learning in partnership with John Wheatley College. Technology is a vital part of everyday life, most of our Women live in isolation and the centre allows them somewhere they feel comfortable and meet other Women with similar issues. The classes make a difference and are an essential part of the services we provide and we are grateful that the College provides them free of charge.
