New Learning Centre opened at Carmyle

Opening of Carmyle Learning  Centre May 2010In the spring, Carmyle saw the official opening of its brand new learning centre and community resource.

The local community centre has been completely refurbished and the Learning Centre, with 13 PCs, has been totally upgraded with state of the art computing equipment. 

A partnership of Glasgow City Council Community Planning and John Wheatley College has established this fabulous community resource and the College will support the running of the Learning Centre with IT and other classes through the College's Widening Access Fund and Youth Access Programme supported sessions for Carmyle’s residents.

Chair of the Carmyle Community Centre Management Committee, Anne Simpson, said,
“We are delighted to finally have this valuable resource available to the many people who already use the Community Centre.  The Learning Centre is a marvelous addition to the many activities which we run here in Carmyle and we hope to encourage even more participation from Carmyle’s residents.”

Computer based training for all levels

The Learning Centre will deliver computer-based learning from a very basic, introductory level up to advanced level, with a wide range of exciting programmes to help Carmyle’s residents keep up to date with the technological age.

Officially opened councilor and partners

Open day at Carmyle Learning Centre.The Centre was officially opened by Cllr Ewan MacLeod, Craig Green, the Information and Learning Services Manager of John Wheatley College and Anne Simpson.  Local schoolchildren presented bouquets at the end of the ceremony.
