It’s all fun at The BIG DAY OOT!

Kicking off with a carnival procession, The Big Day Oot has a great line up of live acts, sports activities, info stalls, food, kids stuff and loads more…!

Magic, Myths & Legends carnival procession

Big Day Oot CarnivalTollcross Park becomes a Big Day Oot on Sunday 28 June and kicks off with a carnival procession.

Many local primary pupils have been working on carnival costumes and large sculptures on the theme of Magic, Myths & Legends including Wellshot, St Michaels, St James, St Rose of Lima, St Marks, Oakwood and Aultmore.

In addition, children and young people from Platform Drama and adults from the Funky Friday performing arts group will also be participating in the carnival parade.

Live music will take place on 2 stages!

The first stage area features:

  • The Tenements,
  • Apple Scruffs,
  • The Lafontaines,
  • Louis & Big Taj,
  • One Blood
  • and more to be announced.

Bands on stage at Big Day Oot

The second stage is a ‘young band’ stage supported by Scottish Arts Council’s Youth Music Initiative and will showcase the youthful talents of:

  • The Banned,
  • 34All,
  • Eidleweiss Pirates,
  • The State Freed
  • Burn the Sunset.

Drama, street theatre, dance, pipers & storytelling.

Other acts on the day include hilarious street theatre, rousing samba, drumming and pipe bands alongside drama and dance performances, storytelling in the park’s Hidden Garden, music sessions and sports activities. There will be loads of information stalls including massage and other stressbusting alternative therapies!

The day is FREE and is part of Glasgow East’s 5K Fun Run and Big Day Oot and will be compered by top DJs. Make this a date for your diary!
