Celebration for learning achievers
John Wheatley College and Greater Easterhouse Family Forum (GEFF) hosted a lunch at the Bridge at the end of June to celebrate the achievements of their learners this year.
Learning can be fun
The combination of the college’s educational expertise and GEFF’s community based programme provides a range of fun and informative courses for East end residents.
Learners have thrived this year and the light-hearted atmosphere of the day shows in the photographs - this is typical of the fun had by those attending these classes. There was even a raffle prize for the lucky ones at the end of the lunch!
Partnership learning in the community
The college and GEFF work in partnership to take learning out into community venues in the East End of Glasgow. This allows a wide range of residents to sample the excellent educational resources available in the area at a familiar venue near their home.
Progression to college
The added convenience of having John Wheatley’s Easterhouse and East End campuses on their doorstep means many students can continue with their studies locally, progressing their learning and improving their qualifications.
The teaching for this programme is supported through John Wheatley College’s Widening Access budget.
