In Safe Hands?
Survivors’ Conference
An exciting and innovative event looking at the experiences of those affected by domestic abuse and/or child sexual abuse.

- Mhairi McGowan, ASSIST coordinator,
- Mairead Tagg Psychologist.
These speakers will cover issues ranging from the impact of abuse on child development to domestic abuse, from child sexual abuse and community violence to promoting good practice and creating safety.
Program
In Part One, survivors, both adults and children, will share their experiences of living with abuse, while Part Two of the day covers the kind of coping strategies (helpful and unhelpful) that abuse survivors develop to cope with that reality.
The final part of the day will look at the interventions and supports that would have helped, and also look at the actions that survivors are asking agencies and government to undertake.
In addition there will be a number of professional speakers who will review the issues being raised by survivors.
