Pavillion Youth Café is open again

From tonight, the 17 August it will open again for youth activities and entertainment in a safe, drug and alcohol free, environment.

The Pavillion is the answer to an increasing demand from the youth of the area, to have somewhere to interact with their peers that is not affected by the problems of the area as a whole.

Pavillion - activities and entertainment

The Pavillion is easily accessible and has a relevant activity based environment that will differentiate the Pavillion from other local initiatives and centres, especially as territorial issues are so prevalent in the area. The Pavillion is unique for the users, even if it is not unique as a conception.

Throughout the summer holidays the Pavillion staff and volunteers have been organising days out and trips for the young people.

Learning Centre

A learning suite completes the activities on offer, allowing use of computers and internet access. This will be supported by staff and activities by John Wheatley College through the Youth Access Project and Glasgow East Learning Network.

New project manager

Lisa Hird, the new project manager is now in place, and says:

We are delighted to announce the re-opening of The Pavillion. Thanks to the hard work, support and determination of the management board, staff, volunteers, John Wheatley College and Blairtummock Housing Association, we are now able to re-open.
