Do you want to help children in the East of Glasgow?

QuarriersQuarriers Family Support Services are looking to recruit volunteer befrienders. This is a new initiative to support children in the east end of Glasgow.

The project is based out of our family centre in Barlanark, Glasgow East. Full training and support will be offered to adults who can offer a child weekly support, in a one to one situation.

Once selected and trained, befrienders will be matched to a young person who needs positive time with an adult. The aim is to increase their confidence  and improve their social skills.

All we ask is that befrienders are committed, reliable and interested in making a difference to children.

You will get:

  • excellent training,
  • regular and ongoing support,
  • opportunities to develop valuable skills,
  • knowledge and experience.

This project has been developed in partnership with Lloyds TSB foundation for Scotland and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

The Pathfinder is part of Glasgow East Learning Network supported by Glasgow Community Planning Partnership East Area and John Wheatley College, Scottish Charity No. SCO21200.

About Quarriers

Quarriers was founded by William Quarrier over 130 years ago to re-home orphaned and destitute children in Scotland.

Today it's a different story.

We provide the most diverse range of services in Scotland through more than 100 projects. Our highly trained, professional staff have the expertise and experience to support and care for:

  • Adults and children with a disability
  • Children and families
  • Young people
  • Young people with housing support needs
  • People with epilepsy
  • Carers

In Scotland today, thousands of people urgently need support and care to overcome physical, mental or emotional problems. But for many, especially those who are living in poverty, the support they are offered is of a poor quality, or it is simply not available at all. Those same needs exist in the rest of the United Kingdom and more widely the world.

We challenge inequality of opportunity and choice, to bring about positive change in people's lives.

We are proud to have won a special place in the hearts of many people.
