College awarded for recruiting people from diverse cultures, backgrounds and abilities

John Wheatley CollegeJohn Wheatley College has been awarded a ‘Recruitment - Highly Commended’ at the Glasgow Business Diversity Awards event on 3rd October 2008.

Organised by the Glasgow Network of Supported Employment, Glasgow Works and the Glasgow Employers Coalition, the event took place at the Hilton Hotel as part of a seminar event for public and third sector organisations throughout Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

The College submitted a nomination for the Glasgow Business Diversity Awards, in the Recruitment category.  The Business Diversity Awards recognise businesses in Glasgow who demonstrate best practice in the recruitment and retention of people from diverse cultures, backgrounds and abilities. 

The College received a runner up award highly commending it for Recruitment.  The main award for Recruitment went to Strathclyde Police who have their own Diversity Unit.   

Winners will be able to display the Glasgow Business Diversity Award Winner’s logo on all their publications and receive high profile publicity for their business. 

The College is delighted to receive this award in acknowledgement of its ongoing commitment to promoting diversity within both its workforce and student body.
