GEN R 8

Greater Easterhouse New Routes

GEN R 8 provides an integrated housing support service to young people aged 16 years to 25 years who are homeless or at risk of being homeless.

Housing services

The service is provided to young people, including lone parents and care leavers, who have a local connection to the Greater Easterhouse area and who wish to have their own tenancy in the area. We have a partnership agreement with 13 local housing providers which results in young people being offered good quality housing.

To date we have supported 42 young people to obtain a secure tenancy.

Other support

We also support young people to engage with local agencies and services such as Careers, Education, Health, Housing and Social Work.

We are funded to work with 27 young people for up to 15 hours each week. There is no time limit relating to how long we offer support to people who use our service.

Some young people referred already have a tenancy with which they are not coping but the majority of young people referred to us are seeking a secure tenancy of their own.

Partnership

Partnership working is crucial to our service and refers to partnership with the young people who use our service and agencies who help increase young people’s capacity to become full and participating members of their community.
